How do you turn a mountain purple? answer send in Kidney Research staff and volunteers, thats how. Our brave walkers were treated to as they descended down the mountain the sight of ballons and flags at either side of the path for about 200 metre's to the finishing point. Also they could hear and see the army of staff at base camp, (Well thats what we called it) screeming encouragement for the fantastic attempt that the walkers had accomplished. Ben Nevis is 4708 feet high and takes about 4 to 5 hours to get to the top and about 3 to 4 hours to descend. The weather was typical, wet drizly and low cloud. When we arrived on the Friday it was glorious sunshine and i think we all thought that would be the same for the Saturday, but it was'nt. But as we set off at 7am it did not seem to dishearten the walkers. Also we were joined by people from Ireland who were walking for their own charities. The party that night was all the more fun for their participation. We had two birthdays to celebrate as well so happy birthday to Alex and Gill and as you can see from the photographs they both like chocolate cake. So lets look forward to next year and the 2008 BEN NEVIS Challenge
